Creating Your First Note

Learn how to create, edit, and save notes in Krokanti Notes — your first steps with the app.

2 min read·Krokanti Notes Help

When you first open Krokanti Notes, you'll land in the main app — a clean three-panel layout with your note list on the left and the editor on the right. Creating a note takes one click.

Creating a New Note

Click the + button at the top of the notes panel (or press Ctrl+N on Windows/Linux, ⌘N on Mac). A new untitled note opens immediately in the editor.

Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+N (or ⌘N) creates a new note from anywhere in the app — no mouse needed.

Writing Your Note

The editor supports rich text by default. Start typing and your note saves automatically — you'll see a small saving indicator in the toolbar. There's no save button because Krokanti Notes saves every change as you type.

Formatting options

The toolbar at the top of the editor gives you:

  • Bold, italic, strikethrough, and inline code
  • Headings (H1, H2, H3)
  • Bullet lists and numbered lists
  • Checklists (tasks)
  • Tables, blockquotes, and code blocks
  • Links and note-to-note links

Adding a title

Click on the "New note" placeholder at the top of the editor and type your title. The title appears in the notes list on the left, making it easy to find later.

Organizing from the Start

Right after creating a note, you can:

  • Tag it: click the tag icon in the toolbar or type a tag name in the tags field below the title
  • Pin it: right-click the note in the list and select "Pin" — pinned notes always appear at the top
  • Move it to a folder: right-click → "Move to folder"

Tags are free-form text — type anything. Common patterns: work, personal, inbox, project-name, 2026.

Markdown Mode

If you prefer to write in Markdown, Krokanti Notes supports it natively. Switch between rich text and source (Markdown) view using the <> button in the toolbar. Changes sync instantly in both directions.
