Note-to-Note Linking
Create internal links between your notes using the @ mention feature or the toolbar link button.
Krokanti Notes lets you link notes together — like a personal wiki or Zettelkasten. There are two ways to insert a link to another note: the @ mention popup and the toolbar button.
Method 1: @ Mention (Quickest)
While typing in the editor, type @ followed by the beginning of another note's title. A popup appears with matching notes — arrow keys or mouse to navigate, Enter or Tab to insert.
- Position your cursor where you want the link
- Type
@and start typing the note title - Select the note from the dropdown
- The link is inserted as:
@Note Titlewith an internal link
The @ mention popup appears after typing 1 or more characters after @. Press Escape to dismiss it without inserting anything.
Method 2: Toolbar Button
- Click the @ icon in the editor toolbar
- A centered search modal opens showing all your notes
- Type to filter by title
- Use arrow keys or mouse to select a note, then press Enter or click it
- The link is inserted at your current cursor position
Navigating Note Links
Click any internal note link to open that note immediately — without leaving the current editor. The linked note replaces the current editor view (no new tab, no page reload).
External links (https://) open in a new browser tab.
Internal note links use the format /app?note={noteId}. If you rename or retitle the linked note, the link still works — it's based on the note's ID, not its title.
Use Cases
Personal Wiki
Link concept notes together: write a note on "Machine Learning" and link it to notes on "Neural Networks", "Gradient Descent", "Python Libraries".
Project Dashboard
Create a project index note that links to all task notes, meeting notes, and reference documents for that project.
Zettelkasten
Build a knowledge graph: atomic notes linked by topic, argument, or idea. Use tags for broad categories and links for specific connections.
Meeting Notes
At the end of a meeting note, link to the action items note, the project brief, and the previous meeting.
Editing and Removing Links
To edit or remove an existing note link:
- Click on the linked text to position your cursor inside it
- The link toolbar appears below — click Edit to change the URL or Unlink to remove the link and keep the text
You can also select the linked text and use Ctrl+K (or ⌘K) to edit the URL directly.
