Troubleshoot sync problems between devices, conflict banners, and notes not appearing after creation.

Krokanti Notes syncs your notes across all devices automatically. Most sync issues resolve on their own, but this guide helps when they don't.

Notes Not Appearing on Another Device

Cause: Background sync runs every 30 seconds when the tab is visible. There can be a short delay.

Fix:

  1. Wait up to 30 seconds
  2. Switch to the other device's browser tab (this triggers an immediate sync)
  3. If still missing, try refreshing the page

Sync pauses when the browser tab is hidden or minimized to save resources. The moment you switch to the tab, it syncs immediately.

Conflict Banner ("Your changes conflict with another version")

A conflict happens when you edit the same note on two devices simultaneously and both versions are saved. Krokanti Notes detects this and shows a banner with options:

  • Keep my changes — saves your current edits, discards the server version
  • Use server version — discards your local edits, loads the server version
  • View conflict — opens both versions side by side for manual merge

To avoid conflicts: always wait for the note to finish saving (the saving indicator in the toolbar disappears) before switching devices. Real-time sync covers 30-second polling — constant simultaneous editing on two devices is the edge case that triggers conflicts.

Changes Not Saving

Symptoms: The saving indicator keeps spinning, or edits disappear when you refresh.

Fixes:

  1. Check your internet connection — the app requires a connection to save to the server (offline edits are queued and saved on reconnect)
  2. Check for an error toast — a red notification at the bottom of the screen indicates a save failure
  3. Refresh the page — your most recent edits sync from the local offline cache on reload
  4. Clear browser cache — in extreme cases, clearing site data and logging in again resolves persistent sync issues

Offline Mode Issues

Problem: Notes edited offline didn't sync after reconnecting.

Check:

  • For secure notes: if the note was locked when you went offline, edits are held until you unlock it with your PIN. Open the note, enter your PIN, and save — the queued edits sync immediately
  • For regular notes: edits should sync automatically within seconds of reconnect. If they don't, try refreshing the page

Old Note Content Showing After Edit

Cause: Another device synced a newer version that overwrote your pending edits, or a cached version is displaying.

Fix:

  1. Check the conflict banner — if it's there, follow the resolution steps above
  2. Check version history (clock icon in toolbar) — your edits may be in a recent version that was rolled back
  3. Refresh the page to force a fresh load from the server
